So I’m going to tell you right here, right now. I. LOVE. FOOD. Not just to eat, but what it symbolizes. How no matter what conflict, what season, what occasion, what differences, or what situation, I can guarantee that food will be the answer. I grew up cooking out of necessity. My parents worked very hard so my contribution to our family was to keep us fat and happy. As I recall, I don’t think I ever got any bad reviews.
My father has always told me that I must get it from my grandmother because she was the type to cook Sunday meals for the 30,000 people in the family. That’s what I’m talking about. Bringing everyone together around the food table…I love it. I learned to understand my palate at a very young age and it came very natural to me on understanding what I wanted to taste and how to get it there. I went to culinary school after I discharged from the Marine Corps (the first time….but that’s another story for another time).
I had visions of traveling the world and learning all cuisines. I wanted to bring it all back to the states and have my own catering gig….yea. Not exactly going like that, but its all good. Ill give it a round two here coming soon…I know it. Since I cant get to that just yet, I figured I’d try my best to soak in the culture and cuisines of wherever I’m stationed and throw it in my foodie tool box for some inspiration later in life. One of my favorite things is to try new places so hopefully you’re as excited as I am. Happy Eating!
